‘NUbots’ Heading to Montreal 6/16 for Soccer’s RoboCup

(TenDaily) The RoboCup was formed in 1997 aim to develop a team of fully autonomous robots that would fare against a human soccer champion team by 2050. The 2018 RoboCup will be Montreal on June 16 when robots with both human-like bodies and senses will battle it out in two ten-minute halves.
Australia is sending its team of “NUbots,” autonomous robots that are practically professionals. “We’ve programmed the robots to visually locate a ball on the soccer field, navigate a path to it, judge space and distance and attempt to score a goal,” team leader and computer engineering student from the University of Newcastle Alex Biddulph said.
