(TechWeek Europe) Airbus is partnering with robotics researchers in Japan and France to develop humanoid robots for its plane factories. Airbus plans to use the humanoid robots for menial tasks that have been identified by Airbus in civilian airliner assembly operations.  The machines will also be capable of performing more physically demanding roles, like heavy lifting, freeing up human workers for more valuable tasks.
Japan’s Institute of Advanced Industrial Science Technology (AIST) and France’s National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) are the partnering entities for the project, called COMANOID.
