Professor, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Shubha Gokhale’s research focuses on the legal consequences of automation. She is a co-founder of the organization Solutions for the Future, a research center focused on legal, ethical and commercial implications of emerging technologies. She is an Assistant Professor in the International Economics and Law Department at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul. She has presented at the 3rd World Humanities Forum, Daejeon, and the first Korea Strategic Foresight conference, Seoul. She also co-organized a workshop on Transhumanism and Asia. She completed her Juris Doctorate at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, New York, and her Bachelor of Arts at Skidmore College, New York.

Chief, Department of Surgery, Hospital, National Cancer Center Dr. Young-Woo Kim was born in Pocheon, Gyeonggido, Korea and has grown up in Seoul. He graduated from the Medical School of Seoul National University in 1988 and has been trained at the Department of Surgery of Seoul National University Hospital. From 1997 to 2002, he worked for Ewha Womans University. There he became interested in laparoscopic surgery, anew revolution of minimally invasive surgery. It changed his whole scope for surgery. After moving to National Cancer Center in Korea at September 2002, he started a clinical trial on laparoscopic gastrectomy. He became dedicated to the clinical trial and development of laparoscopic surgery thereafter. He now serves as the Chief of the Gastric Cancer branch, Research Institute. His main research field is gastric surgical oncology which encompasses clinical trials, developing surgical techniques of laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, open surgery, and various translational researches of gastric cancer. He has performed over 5,000 gastrectomies including over 2,000 laparoscopic and 200 robotic gastrectomies. Dr. Young-Woo is interested in telemedicine and medical engineering for device development. He has published over 200 original articles and several book chapters for Laparoscopic Gastrectomy, Textbook of Oncology, Textbook of Gastric Cancer in Korea. He is always dreaming a new future and never loses hope for changing.

Director-General, KIST Robotics and Media Institute J. Yuh currently serves as the Director-General of KIST Robotics and Media Institute, launching a new flagship research program, ‘Connected Active Space for X (cas4X).’ He also served as the 5th and 6th President of Korea Aerospace University (KAU). Prior to KAU, he was a Professor of the University of Hawaii, NSF Robotics and Computer Vision Program Director (Washington, D.C.) and NSF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office Director (Tokyo). He, as an NSF PD, sponsored a study ‘International R&D Assessment in Robotics’ that helped launching U.S. National Robotics Initiative. He is a global leader in the area of underwater robots or unmanned submersibles. He developed SAUVIM sponsored by U.S. Navy (ONR), which is the first underwater robot having autonomous manipulation capability. He is a founder of MASE, Inc. and served as a board director. He is an IEEE Fellow and received several prestigious awards including NSF Presidential Young Investigator (PYI) Award, Boeing Faculty Award, ASEE Outstanding Young Faculty Award. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Intelligent Service Robotics (Springer) and published over 130 papers and books.
