(DailyStar) The next frontier of medicine could be tiny nano-machines injected into our blood. Scientists recently built such nano-robots by coating tiny algae with magnetic particles.
Prof Li Zhang, of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, said the tiny robots were able to navigate complex biological environments with “high precision”. He said, “A small-scale robot that can be remotely guided, is easily tracked and harmlessly biodegrades, potentially overcomes many of the challenges faced by minimally invasive therapies. We hope our discoveries will pave the way for the development of useful diagnostics or treatments.”
