John Deere Opening High-Tech Labs Focusing on Agricultural Automation

(HoustonChronicle)  John Deere, the Moline, Ill.-based farm machine company, has opened a new lab in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood that is focused on technologies like artificial intelligence and automation,
Deere’s San Francisco outpost opened in May. The move by 180-year-old Deere is the latest sign of agricultural giants’ focus on automation and robotics. Deere competitor Kubota Tractor Corp. opened a research and development facility earlier this year in its Grapevine headquarters near Dallas, TX.
