(DailyStar) The first ever robot doctor has passed its medical exams. Researchers at Tsinghua University in Beijing prepared the bot by inputting knowledge from medical books over the course of a year. It scored 465 out of 600 points in China’s National Medical Licensing Examination.
Instead of just repeating the information in an exam, it had to show a “reasoning process” for treating a given symptom.
The robot scored 465 out of 600 points in China’s National Medical Licensing Examination–a result better than the researchers expected. “Its score is 96 points above the acceptance line,” said Wu Ji, deputy boss of its electronic engineering department. “This shows that it has indeed mastered the medical knowledge and clinical knowledge, and it has owned the basic ability to employ the knowledge to solve some problems,” he added.
